Director of Marketing, Atlanta at Gannett Co., Inc., Atlanta, GA
WXIA & WATL/Atlanta, GA (11Alive) seeking an innovative leader who can increase audience and revenue market share by directing marketing efforts for both WXIA and WATL as well as all of the Networks of 11Alive. This position will lead the creating, development and implementation of marketing for our news and entertainment products, sales plans, initiatives and programs. They will be responsible for managing and leading the strategic marketing and local program production. The position will work closely with the executive committee to achieve organizational and strategic objectives. This position will be accountable for establishing and enhancing the media company’s network brand(s), maximizing advertising revenue and market share and improving the organization’s competitive position and its penetration of target markets. In addition, this position is an integral part of the organization’s community outreach and marketing efforts. Position reports to the President and General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Defining, evaluating and executing marketing strategies and related operating objectives, and adjusting those strategies and objectives as needed to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Strengthen brand recognition and market share to reach strategic goals and operational plan.
- Provide marketing input into product design to influence product development and sales success in light of known attributes of desired audience segments and advertising customers.
- Directs the provision of product marketing materials and product support to the sales force. Planning and implementing participation in events relevant to major customers and potential customers, in order to stimulate interest and solicit action.
- Setting campaign performance targets and related metrics for all activities.
- Develop methods for measuring market response to sites, products and marketing campaigns.
- Overseeing the production and marketing of the station’s local program, Atlanta and Company.
- Responsible for all inside as well as outside marketing initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, sales or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years experience covering a broad range of brand and product marketing with demonstrated ability to increase market penetration for digital products.
- Minimum 3 years as a manager, with demonstrated ability to lead others successfully toward goals.
- Quick to action and focused on achieving goals. Proven ability to identify critical issues, prioritizes appropriately, and execute quickly. Must be passionate about solving problems for users and advertisers.
- Thorough understanding of web analytics, including the different methodologies used by internal (Omniture, WebTrends, etc.) and external (Nielsen, ComScore) metrics.
- Proven understanding of web design and user experiences. Familiarity with search engines and search-engine-optimization tools.
