Front End Web Developer - Summer Intern at Gannett Digital, Mc Lean, VA

Gannett Digital, a top 20 digital media and Fortune 500 company, seeks an intern to support our strategic initiatives in the company. Excellent internship opportunity!

This is a paid internship and the intern will be exposed to the digital media industry, working with our Product team.

Internship is based out of Gannett / USA TODAY HQ in Tysons Corner, VA. This internship will give the intern valuable real-world experience.

  • The Web Developer for product works closely with Web Designers to translate visual concepts into working HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.  These developers are closer to designers than to back-end developers, because they have a design aesthetic that allows them to quickly grasp the designer's vision, and come with experience in implementing visual designs on templating engines like PHP, Django, or Ruby on Rails;
  • The intern is considered an integral part of the Digital department and as such, their ideas
    and input will be valued.
  • Degreed programs in Digital Design, Web Development and Design, Computer Science or similar majors preferred
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript (with and without using jQuery or other frameworks), PHP (or similar), Adobe Photoshop
  • Familiarity with design, front-end development, desired
  • The intern must be well organized, and detail-oriented
  • Must possess strong computer, development and design skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask essential
  • Interest in media and online industries
  • Excellent communication skills
