Technical Business Analyst at Accruent, Austin, TX

The Technical Business Analyst is a part of our Product Management team and will assist in driving the technical product lifecycle while working closely with Engineering, QA, Sales, Services, Support, and our customers.  This includes the planning, designing, developing of technical specifications, and releasing of enterprise business software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Collaborate with customers to understand and document key product opportunities, requirements, and use cases
• Proactively facilitates technically oriented business analyst activities and serves as a technical resource to business users and other analysts
• Deliver technical and system specifications for complex solutions in a clear and concise manner
• Compile and analyze industry, customer, and product data to drive product roadmap decisions.
• Demonstrate product and industry expertise as a trusted advisory internally and with customers
• Ensure engineering understands business specifications and lead the development of technical specifications
• Partner with Engineering to clarify technical requirements and design
• Seek best practices in areas of analysis and technology
• Remain up to date on industry and technology changes and trends and apply this knowledge while working with customers and internal teams
• Assist Product and Engineering Managers to estimate levels of effort and plan for product releases
• Educate and train the Engineering and QA teams on new feature designs
• Review test plans with QA team
• Review technical product documentation, user guides, and admin guides
• Ensure product solution meets requirements and functions properly

• 20-30% travel

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline (Engineering/MIS degree)
• Strong focus on results and quality
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills  
• Excellent presentation and influence skills to achieve results working with internal and external customers
• Ability to learn technical concepts and technology quickly
• Strong analytical skills, and the desire and ability to research and formulate appropriate analytical technology or resolve problem situations
• Experience with web-based applications
• Knowledge of database management systems
• Experience with .NET Framework and MS Visual Studio
• Knowledge of Object Oriented concepts
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology
• Respect for multiple viewpoints – Customer, Company, Internal teams
• Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills
• Ability to make sound decisions based on customer needs and product knowledge
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to deliver high-quality solutions

• Knowledge of the real estate and facilities management market is a plus
